I would like to thank you for visiting our website; I hope your experience is a pleasant one. The members of the ODU Police Department strive to maintain an excellent standard of police service, as well as customer service overall. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to call upon us.
The Police Department is located at 4516 Monarch Way and is open 24 hours a day, providing around-the-clock protection and services to the University community. Police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year. The department is responsible for enforcing State and Local statutes and Old Dominion University regulations. Our police officers are state-certified law enforcement officers who receive their training at the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy.
The Police Department is responsible for law enforcement, security and emergency management at Old Dominion University and its primary objective is to provide a safe and healthy environment that enhances the learning experience and compliments the University's educational mission.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report Now Available...
The Old Dominion University (ODU) is committed to assisting all members of the ODU community and visitors in providing for their own safety and security. The annual security and fire safety compliance document is available on the ODU Police Department website. As a prospective employee, you may want to familiarize yourself with the contents of this report.
If you would like to receive a hard copy of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report which contains this information, you can stop by the ODUPD Headquarters at 4516 Monarch Way or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 757-683-5665.
The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by ODU; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
This information is required by law and is provided by the ODU Police Department.
