the Theatre Arts Program awards several scholarships to theatre
majors who demonstate through audition or portfolio outstanding
achievement in academics and artistry in the Theatre Arts Program
scholarship auditions, held annually in the Spring Semester, are
adjudicated by the Theatre Arts Program faculty and professionals
from the Hampton Roads region.
students competing as directors and designers: present a two page
written statement, outlining your talents, craft development, and
plans within your selected field. Include documentation of previous
accomplishment, arranged as professional portfolio ( designers)
, or production workscripts ( directors).
For students competing through general service to the Theatre
Program: present a two page written statement outlining the ways
in which you have volunteered your time and energies on behalf of
the production season, also describing your current involvement.
For students competing as actors: prepare two contrasting one
minute monologues, neither of which has been previously awarded
through past scholarship competitions at ODU, and present a professional
actor’s resume at the audition
winner will be will receive award scholarships, which will
be divided between the Fall and Spring semesters of the following
year, dependent on the student's continued participation in the
