Welcome from the Provost
Welcome to the website of the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Old Dominion University. The Provost has financial and management responsibility for all of ODU's academic offerings, working closely with the President, the Chief Operating Officer, and other Vice Presidents to set the academic priorities for the University and implement strategies for success.
The Provost's office has responsibility for all academic affairs on ODU's main campus in Norfolk, at our three Higher Education Centers in Virginia, and at our numerous Distance Learning and military sites around the country. The responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: development and allocation of adequate resources for the success of ODU's academic mission; assessing, and insuring the quality of undergraduate and graduate educational programs, both face-to-face and via on-line delivery; the University libraries; supporting students’ academic success in all six academic colleges and the Honors College; management of faculty and academic support staff personnel; and provision of required data to accrediting and oversight agencies.
The administrative faculty and staff of Academic Affairs work in close co-operation with ODU's Office of Research to support the successful operation of research programs, with the Division of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services to enable the academic success of our students, and with ODU's Faculty Senate to ensure a rigorous, yet flexible and creative educational environment that benefits students and faculty alike.
This site is designed to be a resource for faculty, staff, and students who need to access information on ODU's academic policies and procedures, copies of which are available from our links. I hope that you find the site useful and welcome suggestions for improvements.
Thank you for your interest in Old Dominion University.
