Part-time jobs are an excellent way for you to gain experience in your field, as well as earn money to help with college expenses. We can help you find an on-campus or off-campus job. Here are your part-time job opportunities.
On-Campus Student Hourly
You can find a student hourly position with an ODU on-campus department by logging into CareerLink and applying online. Student hourly positions on campus do not require Federal Work-Study awards. Positions are not always listed in eRecruiting therefore it is suggested to inquire about opportunities within individual departments. You may also attend our Back to School Job Fair held each September.
Part-Time Off Campus
Login to CareerLink and locate a variety of part-time positions off-campus.
The CMC also offers the Back to School Job Fair and the Summer Jobs Fest Career Fairs with local employers who wish to hire ODU students for summer seasonal employment.
Learn and Earn Advantage Program
The Learn and Earn Advantage Program (LEAP) offers 1st year undergraduate ODU students the opportunity to be selected for part time on campus jobs with ODU departments and Regional Higher Education Centers. Jobs last one semester, averaging 10-15 hours per week, with students making $8.00 per hour. Limited positions are available, so apply immediately at the ODU Career Management Center for this Spring semester!

- Minimum Requirements to Apply:
- Must be a 1st year Freshman student at ODU (started at ODU Aug, 2011 or later),
- Cannot be in the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program,
- Must be able to start working on September 1, 2011.
- Bring the Following to Apply:
- Original Social Security card
- Valid drivers license or other valid picture ID.
- Direct deposit request form from bank or a void check.
- Copy of resume.

On-Campus Federal Work-Study Positions
What is a Federal Work-Study (FWS) Award?
Federal Work-Study Awards are received as a part of student's Financial Aid packages. It is a certain sum of money that is earned by students in various employment opportunities on and off campus. If you receive Financial Aid, and have not been offered a Federal Work-Study Award, you may contact you Financial Aid Counselor to inquire about your eligibility.
What does Federal Work Study (FWS) do for me?
The CMC can help you locate a FWS job, here are your FWS options:
To participate in one of three CMC programs, students must attend an information session to fill out required paperwork. After the paperwork has been approved, students must attend orientation for further program requirements.
Community Service Internship (CSI)
You may apply for the Community Service Internship (CSI) program and earn your Work-Study award while you work in a variety of qualifying non-profit or governmental agencies in the local area. Some participants in CSI also register for academic credit.
America Reads (AR)
You may apply for the America Reads (AR) program where by tutors are assigned to work with early childhood, and elementary school aged children in reading and math in a variety of settings.
Student Temporary Assist Team (STAT)
You may enroll in the Student Temporary Assist Team (STAT) program and accept a variety of short-term assignments in various ODU departments on campus. The program mirrors a temporary agency on campus allowing for variety in work experiences and flexibility to meet the needs of diverse student schedules.
