Since its debut last August, the Office of Community Engagement featured over a dozen community intiatives in its inaugural year. Projects highlighted this year inlucded regional issues such as The Blue Planet Form, Education Summit and Life in Hampton Roads Survey to community service-focused events such as ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Public Service Week and the Community Blueprint. This office has also been busy forging relationships as well as collaborating on community projects with the Future of Hampton Roads, Greater Norfolk Corporation, the Hampton Roads Center for Civic Engagement and the Hampton Roads Partnership. Our latest project will build upon our existing strengths and assit the University in achieving national recognition as an engaged institution through the submission of a proposal to participate in the White House Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge.
EngageODU is a collaborative effort incorporating existing efforts at the University into addressing community needs.
