Timetable for General Education Implementation 2010

Faculty Senate Committee A submits General Education Implementation Packet 2010 to Deans and Department Chairs.
09/25/2009
Departments and Colleges (where appropriate) submit recommendations for the following items to College Curriculum Committees:
All course revisions for current Perspective courses that will continue as Ways of Knowing courses
All new course proposals for lower and upper division requirements
Determination of how the second Written Communication Skills course will be met
Determination of hos the Oral Communication Skills requirement will be met
Determination of how the Information Literacy and Research Skills requirement will be met
Determination of how the Philosophy and Ethics Way of Knowing will be met, and if a specific program will have an ethics course requirement
Determination of hos The Impact of Technology Way of Knowing will be met
Decision if a department will house an Interdisciplinary Minor (IM)

College Curriculum Committees forward their recommendations to the Deans.

Deans forward their recommendations to Faculty Senate Committee A.
10/23/2009
Faculty Senate Committee A sends recommendations for all revised and renewed general education courses to the Provost and Registrar.
10/30/2009
Faculty Senate Committee A sends all approved new general education courses to the Provost and Registrar.
11/06/2009
Faculty Senate Committee A sends complete list of all requirements that will be met in the major to the Provost and Registrar. Interdisciplinary Minors and sponsoring departments will be named.
11/13/2009
New and revised general education courses entered into Banner Catalog.
11/27/2009
Departments notify Faculty Senate Committee A of their intention to house an Interdisciplinary Minor.
02/01/2010
Fall 2010 Schedule final proof due.
NOTE: The timetable is driven by room scheduling needs and by the 2010-2011 University Catalog deadline. There will be opportunities for departments to revise and resubmit proposals that are not recommended by the College Curriculum Committees, the Deans, or Faculty Senate Committee A. The goal of FS Committee A is to have as many of the revisions as possible in place for publication in the 2010-2011 University Catalog.
