Board Approves Awarding of Tenure and Emeritus Title, Endorses Tuition and Fee Rates The Board of Visitors approved the award of tenure to 17 current faculty members and the granting of the emeritus title to six retiring faculty members, and approved the tuition and fee schedule for the 2011-12 academic year at its April 7 meeting. (Full Story) Executive Director of Consumer Federation of America to Speak at Economics Club Luncheon Stephen Brobeck, executive director of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA), will be the guest speaker at the ODU Economics Club of Hampton Roads Luncheon on April 27. Brobeck has served as executive director of the CFA, the nation's largest consumer advocacy organization, since 1980. Erin Gruwell, whose life story inspired the 2007 film "Freedom Writers," starring Hilary Swank, gives the 2011 Darden Lecture in Education April 6 in the Big Blue Room at the Constant Center. Gruwell elicited everything from laughter to tears as she shared her experiences of successfully reaching out to – and teaching – teenagers in Long Beach, Calif., whom the educational system had written off as "unteachable."
