Fern Expert to Deliver Musselman Natural History Lecture April 21

Robbin Moran, curator of ferns and lycophytes at The New York Botanical Garden, will deliver ODU's annual Lytton J. Musselman Natural History Lecture Thursday, April 21, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. His topic is "Helpful and Harmful Ferns." (Full Story)

ODU Relay For Life Gets on the Mark to Race Toward $57,000 Goal

The highest-grossing annual charity college relay in Hampton Roads is set for April 15 and 16 in Webb Center. The 11th annual Relay For Life, which each year attracts hundreds of people from the ODU community, will see teams set up campsites throughout the student center, participating in a range of activities at the overnight event. Using Pipe Cleaners and Clay, Classmate Helps Blind Student 'See' Geometry Lessons

"We have congruent angles and proportional sides. If I can get a couple of these measurements, I can extrapolate." Suzanne Doviak makes a point about geometry to her Math 302 class, and the 50 or so students dutifully take notes. Meanwhile, two students in the second row hold a quiet conversation. Jeff Abbott takes a piece of modeling clay and folds it into the shape that Doviak is drawing on the board. Mary Carlisle runs her fingers gently over the clay. (Full Story)

Taste of India – a Photo Essay

Thousands of area residents visited the Constant Center on Sunday for the fifth annual Taste of India festival. The free event highlighted the culture, politics and history of India through live musical and dance performances, video displays, ethnic foods and exhibits. (Full Story)

Actor, author and environmental activist Ed Begley Jr. speaks at Engineering Unplugged on April 12. Sponsored by the Professional Development Center at ODU's Business Gateway, the conference is unique in that it is targeted toward a wide variety of engineers who are designing, building, operating and maintaining green buildings, shipping facilities, watercraft and future supply chains for wind energy.
