'Scapino' Now Playing at New Monarch Theatre

"Scapino," a new production by the Old Dominion University Theatre, opened Jan. 19 in the new Monarch Theatre on Monarch Way, and seven performances remain on the schedule.

Adapted from Moliere by Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale, "Scapino" is directed by Konrad Winters, associate professor of communication and theatre arts. It features current and former students.

The trickster Scapino frolics to the stage with wily servants outsmarting their masters, lovers kept apart by their parents, greedy misers, gypsies and a happy ending in this over-the-top production.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Jan. 26-28 and Feb. 2-4, with a 2 p.m. matinee performance also scheduled on Feb. 4.

Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for general admission. To purchase tickets call 3-5305 or go to http://oduartstix.com.
