Sophisticated Spectrometer Moving from Arizona to ODU

One of the world's most colorful solar instruments is moving cross-country for a new life dissecting the chemistry of comets, planets and stars. Its new home will be ODU, where it will be used under the direction of chemistry department chair Peter Bernath. (Full Story)

NROTC Students Help Rescue Woman and Child from Burning Car

How has your ride home from work or school been lately? Two Naval ROTC students at ODU had a more adventurous trip than most on a recent commute home, helping rescue a woman and her young son from a burning vehicle on Interstate 264 in Norfolk. (Full Story)

Kathleen Levingston, Dick Whalen and Capt. David Culler, executive officer of Naval Station Norfolk, chat Thursday prior to a Military Child Education Coalition Transition Counselor Institute session co-sponsored by TEAMS (Teaching, Education and Awareness for Military-connected Students) from the Darden College of Education. Levingston, assistant professor of counseling and human services, is a leader of the TEAMS initiative, which promotes the interests of military-connected students and their families. Culler and Whalen, ODU's director of military activities, spoke at the start of the session for area guidance counselors.
