
A highlight of the Board of Visitors meeting June 17 will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ted Constant Convocation Center. It is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. near the southeast corner of Hampton Boulevard and 43rd Street.
Construction on the $40 million 8,500-seat convocation center and two parking garages is expected to be completed by fall 2002. The center will be the cornerstone of the 75-acre University Village project.
The facility will be named in honor of Virginia Beach resident Theodore "Ted" Constant, who earlier this year made a $5 million gift to support the development of the University Village.
The Board of Visitors will meet at 9 a.m. in the Webb Center Board Room and again at 3 p.m. in Room 255 of the Technology Building. Committee meetings are scheduled as follows:
