A matter of degrees
More than 2,400 students were eligible to receive degrees at Old Dominion's 94th commencement May 5. Also receiving a degree - an honorary doctorate - was speaker Tim Russert. Above, President James V. Koch presents the host of NBC's "Meet the Press" with his degree while Provost Jo Ann Gora adjusts his hood. C-SPAN will broadcast Russert's address over the Memorial Day weekend. Russert is the latest in a series of nationally known speakers at Old Dominion. Since May 1998, comedian Bill Cosby, ABC newsman Sam Donaldson and PBS's Mister Rogers have addressed university graduates.
