A sizable check
Several members of the ODU Alumni Association recently presented a check for $420,000 to President Roseann Runte, sixth from right, and John R. Broderick, to her right, vice president for institutional advancement, for the renovation of the former Public Safety Building as ODU’s first Alumni Center. The gift is the largest ever to Old Dominion from the association. The presentation took place prior to the men’s basketball game against Hofstra Jan. 10 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Governor’s budget contains positive news for ODU
While it remains to be seen what the General Assembly will do in response to Gov. Mark Warner’s proposed 2004-06 executive budget, for now the news is good for Old Dominion and gives President Roseann Runte and her administrative team cause to be hopeful. Full story

Program to mark anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation
“Let Freedom Ring,” a ceremony marking the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Webb Center cafeteria. Full story
