HACE Fest fun
Food, fellowship and fun were all on the menu Oct. 12 at the HACE Fest picnic. Sponsored by the Hourly and Classified Employees Association, the annual event attracted hundreds of staff members to the Chemistry Building lawn for free hot dogs, baked beans and homemade cookies. Above, Tanya White of the financial aid office (right), who chairs HACE’s Legislative Committee, presents a door prize to Mary Thomas of the Mail Center. At left, longtime HACE member Bobby Powell, from the Science Shop, grills the hot dogs to perfection.

Old Dominion launches $100 million capital campaign
In addition to honoring former students and community leaders, the Oct. 14 Founders’ Day dinner was the occasion to kick off the public phase of the university’s second capital campaign, “Changing Lives: The Campaign for Old Dominion University.” Full story
