Approximately 850 students, representing 48 high schools across the region and the U.S., gathered in Norfolk Feb. 11-14 for the 32nd annual ODU Model United Nations High School Conference, sponsored by the university’s Model UN Society. Above, Emily Pinto and Leah Schy of Warhill High School in Williamsburg, representing Belgium, cast a vote during a meeting of the Security Council. At left, a student votes at the NGO (non-governmental organizations) Forum. Faculty sponsor Aaron Karp said the conference offers “a way for students to learn global affairs through simulation, mastering country briefs more intimately than they would in a typical classroom.” |
