Highest Ranking Military Commander in Hampton Roads Visits ODU
Old Dominion President Roseann Runte recently hosted Gen. James N. Mattis, U.S. Marine Corps, on a working visit of the campus. Mattis, who serves as commander of both Joint Forces Command and Supreme Allied Commander-Transformation, is the senior military commander in Hampton Roads.
Runte and Mattis discussed a wide range of research and academic topics, within the context of a 1995 Memorandum of Agreement that formally linked the university with NATO's Atlantic Headquarters.
Gen. Mattis will return to ODU later this month to co-host, with President Runte, the annual ODU/ACT Azalea Festival Symposium at the Ted Constant Convocation Center and the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center.
