Baptist Campus Minister Rob Sandford to Retire After 39 Years at ODU
Robert Y. "Rob" Sandford, the Virginia Baptist campus minister at Old Dominion University for 39 years, will retire on June 5.
Sandford joined the campus community in the summer of 1970, one year after Old Dominion became a university. He served two years in Lexington at VMI and Washington and Lee prior to coming to Norfolk, making a total of 41 years as a campus minister.
A special celebration in his honor is planned for Saturday, May 16, from 6-8 p.m., at the Baptist Student Center, 1410 W. 49th St. University friends and colleagues are invited to attend. Guests are asked to park in the Foreman Field parking garage.
