ODU INSTRUCTOR PASSES AWAY
Robert Eldon Evans II, instructional support manager for the Department of Physics and an earth sciences instructor, died at his home in Moyock, N.C., on Monday, Dec. 18.
Evans, 56, had a 27-year career in the U.S. Navy-he retired as a lieutenant-before coming to Old Dominion University. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology from ODU in 2001. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Honor Society and First Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
A native of St. Joseph, Mo., Evans was the husband of Lori Jeanne Kempf Evans. He is also survived by two sons, Walter Evans of Palestine, Texas, and Alexander Evans of Topeka, Kan.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb. A gathering will be held at the Evans residence at 120 King's Way, Moyock, at a later date.
