PROFESSOR EMERITUS AWARDED FULBRIGHT GRANT
Jack H. Wilson, professor emeritus of English, has received a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture on noncanonical American literature at the University of Leon in Leon, Spain, from Feb. 1 to June 15, 2002.
Wilson said his course will examine American literature that does not fit into traditional canons, including the writings of American Indians, African Americans, Chicanos and women writers.
This year, approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals received Fulbright grants to lecture or conduct research abroad. A similar number of visiting scholars received awards to come to the United States primarily as researchers.
The Fulbright Scholar Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, with additional funding coming from participating governments and hostinstitutions in the United States and abroad.
