Hip-Hop Artist Lupe Fiasco Performs Nov. 5 at the Ted
Chicago hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco will perform in concert as part of Old Dominion University's Homecoming 2009 celebrations on Thursday, Nov. 5.
Fiasco, labeled a "breath of fresh air" by hip-hop icon Jay-Z, is a throwback to the lyrics-based hip-hop music of the 1990s. With his debut CD "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor," the 27-year-old musician exploded onto the national hip-hop scene. His first single, "Kick, Push," was heavily inspired by skateboarding.
The critically lauded album was later nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album. In the same year, he was voted by GQ magazine as the "Breakout Man of the Year."
With his third CD due out this fall, Fiasco is on a nationwide tour, which brings him to ODU's Ted Constant Convocation Center on Nov. 5.
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. The cost is $17 for ODU students, with a limit of two tickets per student. Tickets for the general public are $27 each.
Tickets can be purchased from the Ted box office, by phone (1-888-3-COXTIX) and online (www.COXTIX.com). Tickets are also available for sale at the Campus Information Center in Webb Center.
On the day of the show, tickets rise in price to $25 for students and $35 for the general public, again with a limit of two tickets per ODU student ID.
