ODU LIBRARIAN WAYNE BURTON DIES

Wayne M. Burton of Norfolk, head of Access Services at Old Dominion University's Perry Library, died Dec. 1, 2007, at a local hospital. He was 58 years old.

Born in Amelia County, Va., Burton served the University Libraries for more than 30 years. He was named ODU Librarian of the Year in 2003.

Burton is survived by his brother, William L. Burton Jr. of Warrenton, Va.; a niece, Rene Bryant of Richmond, Va.; and a nephew, Daryl O. Burton of Midland, Va.

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Amelia County, Va. A memorial celebration will be held in Norfolk at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Cox Funeral Home is handling local arrangements and Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home is handling arrangements in Amelia County. Condolences may be offered to the family through www.dmvobits.com/cox.
