J. Robert Bray, the executive director of Virginia Port Authority, will join the Old Dominion University Economics Club of Hampton Roads luncheon as a guest speaker on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Co-sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon will begin at noon at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel in downtown Norfolk. The cost is $30 for nonmembers. Due to limited space, reservations are required in advance and may be made by calling 683-4058.

The Virginia Port Authority is an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, reporting to the Secretary of Transportation. The Port of Virginia is the largest intermodal facility on the U.S. East Coast and transports more intermodal containers to more cities faster and more efficiently than any other port in the United States. It provides six direct-service trains to 28 major cities each day.

Bray is a graduate of Hampton-Sydney College and the Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary.

Jan. 17 - Annual Economic Outlook Conference: Mark Zandi, nationally known economist with the Regional Financial Association and founder of Economy.com, will present the national economic forecast. ODU's forecast team of Vinod Agarwal, Mohammad Najand and Gil Yochum will give the outlook for Hampton Roads. (This program starts at 10:45 a.m.)
Feb. 7 - Cynthia Cooper, former internal auditor of World Com.
March 14 - Daniel P. Kessler, professor at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and senior fellow of the Hoover Institution.
April 27 - Benedict Schwegler Jr., vice president and chief scientist of Walt Disney Imagineering, Research & Development Inc.
