A cookie decorating contest and holiday music are among the highlights of Old Dominion University's sixth annual "Illumination: A Holiday Tradition," Tuesday, December 5.

Free and open to the community, the festival will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a cookie decorating contest in Webb University Center. Prizes include bookstore gift certificates and family packs of four tickets to the Monarch or Lady Monarchs basketball game.

The traditional candle lighting and wreath illumination ceremony will be held on Kaufman Mall at 5:15 p.m. The ceremony will feature international students and music by the Larchmont Elementary School Chorus.

Following the ceremony, hot cider, hot chocolate, caramel popcorn and cookies will be served.

The event is also a donation drive for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and participants are asked to bring canned goods to donate.
