FORMER ENGINEERING DEAN HAS ROLE IN INVESTIGATION OF LOG PYRAMID COLLAPSE AT TEXAS A&M
John A. Weese, former dean of Old Dominion's School of Engineering and currently a professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University, is leading a team of university staff members that will help a commission investigating the collapse of the Aggie bonfire log pyramid, which killed 12.
Texas A&M has named Leo Linbeck Jr., head of a Houston construction company, to lead the commission.
Weese served as dean at Old Dominion for nine years, resigning in July 1983. A month after stepping down from the post, he was named director of the mechanical engineering and applied mechanics division of the National Science Foundation.
