Martinat to Present CCPO Seminar on Continental Shelf Flows
Guillaume Martinat, a postgraduate researcher at Old Dominion University's Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography (CCPO), will give a talk at the center Monday, March 22, about his studies of the shallow continental shelf flows that transport sediment and bioactive material.
His presentation, "Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) of Turbulent Shear Flows and Pressure-Driven Flow on Shallow Continental Shelves," will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Room 3200 of the Innovation Research Park Building 1. The seminar is free and open to the public, as is a reception with refreshments that begins at 3.
Martinat was educated at the Universite Rennes 1 and Universite de Toulouse in France. His doctorate is in fluid dynamics.
At CCPO he is focusing on the LES of free-surface turbulent flows in shallow water, especially Langmuir circulation in a wind- and wave-driven flow.
