The ODU Lady Monarchs will travel to Rhode Island on Monday, March 22 to face the Providence College Friars for second round action in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

The game will take place in Alumni Hall in Rhode Island at 7:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs advanced to the second round with a 63-55 opening round victory over the Patriot League Regular Season Champs, American University.

Old Dominion earned the CAA's automatic bid into the WNIT after finishing as the regular season champion with a 14-4 record in league play. ODU leaned on sophomore Tia Lewis (16 pts, 9 reb) and junior Jasmine Parker (14 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast) in the first round as they led from wire-to-wire against the Eagles. As a team, the Lady Monarchs pounded the Eagles down low, scoring 44 of their 63 points in the paint.

In tonight's game, Providence outlasted Boston University for a 64-58 win on the road, after the two teams went into the break deadlocked at 31. Senior Chelsea Marandola poured in a game-high 23 points, adding four clutch free-throws down the stretch, to get the Friars past the Terriers in their first round matchup. Marandola was selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team, averaging 17.9 points per game in the regular season. The Friars were eliminated from the BIG EAST Championship by Syracuse in the second round.
