INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GET A TASTE OF THANKSGIVING AT ODU
The Old Dominion University Office of Student Affairs will host an early Thanksgiving dinner for international students at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Hampton/ Newport News Room in Webb Center.
More than just sharing food, the event will allow international and American students to learn from each other about holiday traditions. American students volunteering at the dinner will each bring an item that signifies the meaning of Thanksgiving.
"We cannot take every international student home with us for the Thanksgiving holiday but we can give them a taste of the day right here at Old Dominion," said Dionicia Mahler-Rogers, coordinator for outreach and involvement in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership.
According to Mahler-Rogers, the university hopes to make this an annual tradition.
