Walker-Johnson To Discuss Gender Equality in Academia at London Roundtable

Geneva Walker-Johnson, dean of students and chief student affairs officer at Old Dominion University, will be part of an international roundtable discussion on "Women in the University: Problems and Prospects," July 11-16.
Walker-Johnson will join a small interdisciplinary group of scholars who have a particular interest in gender equality in the education establishment at the Oxford Round Table held in London. She plans to present a paper that addresses one of the Round Table discussion topics, "Hidden hierarchies and gender."
Topics to be discussed at this year's sessions include:
Traditional institutional restrictions on women's leadership
Invisible ceilings and the rationalization of disparities
Sexual discrimination and consequences
Culture of the institution and gender inequality
Hidden hierarchies and gender
Factors affecting promotion, tenure and compensation.
