ODU Prof to Appear on July 9 'HearSay' Program Discussing Truth, Honesty and Trivia

Rod Evans, lecturer of philosophy at Old Dominion University, will be a guest on WHRV-FM's (89.5) "HearSay with Cathy Lewis" from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, July 9.

Guest host Barbara Lee Hamm will lead the program's discussion, titled "Being Wrong," which will explore why people often find it difficult to admit when they are wrong.

In an entertaining twist on the program's subject of veracity, Evans will discuss his new book, "Sorry, Wrong Answer," which takes readers on a tour of misleading trivia, debunking commonly held assumptions and sharing surprising "right" answers.

Evans is the author or co-author of 16 books, including "The Gilded Tongue," "Getting Your Words' Worth," "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge: The Book of Mnemonic Devices" and "The Artful Nuance: A Refined Guide to Imperfectly Understood Words in the English Language."

Also appearing as a guest on the show will be Kathryn Schulz, the author of a new book titled "Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error."

An archive broadcast of the "HearSay" radio program can be downloaded at http://www.whro.org/home/publicradio/whrv/localprogramming/hearsay.
