Music On Monarch Way
The University Village is celebrating summer with Music On Monarch Way, a free concert series featuring an eclectic line-up of jazz, bluegrass, reggae, folk, salsa, blues, swing and progressive music.
Sponsored by the Old Dominion University Real Estate Foundation and The University Village, the concerts will be held from 5-7 p.m., June 26 though Aug. 21 on the green lawn behind the Ted Constant Convocation Center along Monarch Way on the Old Dominion campus. Admission and parking are free.
Information on the concert series and a full list of shops and restaurants at The University Village are available at http://www.oduvillage.com or by calling 683-4504.
The remaining concert schedule is as follows:
August 14 The Michael Clark Band featuring Tracy Clark - Rhythm & Blues/Soul/Rock
What started as a blues/rock guitar band evolved into an all-out R&B revue. Tracy Clark's vocals and stage presence coupled with one of the tightest rhythm sections in the area and one of the funkiest horn sections on the East Coast, provides all the elements for a great musical experience.
August 21 Session Rockers - Roots Reggae
Session Rockers is Hampton-based and a favorite band in Hampton Roads. They play all original music with elements of Jamaican roots and a combination of jazz, soul and reggae mixed together.
