ODU Little Shop of Horrors Cast to Appear on the Hampton Roads Show

Members of the Little Shop of Horrors cast, including Cleo Antolin who plays Seymour and Jenny de Jaager who plays Audrey, will appear on "The Hampton Roads Show" on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Fox 43, local channel 14.

Katherine Hammond, director of the ODU director of theatre and Brian Nedvan, assistant professor of music will also be featured on the show.  "Our entire cast will join us in costume for this fun-themed Halloween show," said Hammond. "We are looking forward to celebrating and sharing more about our musical with the larger community," she said.

In its first production of the 2010 season, Old Dominion University Theatre presents a unique tale of plant nourishment in "Little Shop of Horrors," based on the off-Broadway and Broadway hit first staged in 1982.

The musical, directed by Hammond tells the story of a down-and-out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for human blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding her growing appetite, finally revealing herself to be an alien creature poised for global domination. One of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name.

Remaining performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Oct. 28-30 at the University Theatre, located between 46th and 47th streets on Hampton Boulevard. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students.
