LADY MONARCH NAMED CAA SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Old Dominion senior forward Laura Beeman was selected as the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer Player of the Year in voting by the
league's head coaches. The award was presented Thursday night on the eve of the semifinals of the CAA Women's Soccer Championship.
Beeman was the top offensive player in the CAA this season, leading the league in goals (16), points (35) and shots (78). She scored at least one goal in 10 of ODU's 19 contests and recorded five multi-goal performances, including a hat trick in the Lady Monarchs' regular-season finale against Towson. A three-time All-CAA selection, Beeman concluded her ODU career ranked second on the school's career goals (37) and points (86) list. She is just the second player in ODU history to receive CAA women's soccer Player of the Year honors.
