RON JOHNSON FEATURED IN DISCOVER MAGAZINE INSERT

Ron Johnson, associate professor of ocean, earth and atmospheric sciences, was featured in an advertising insert in the November issue of Discover magazine.

Johnson, a captain in the Naval Reserves, was one of 30 Navy judges who selected 15 students for $8,000 Navy-sponsored scholarships at this year's International Science and Engineering Fair in Philadelphia. The fair was sponsored by computer chip manufacturer Intel. Forty-seven countries - including Israel, Belarus, South Africa, China and Chile - sent students to the fair.

In 18 years working at local, regional and national science fairs, Johnson has judged projects in physics, earth science, environmental science, computer science, engineering and gerontology.
