Holiday Play Offers Up Comic, Touching Look at Families
The ODU University Theatre offers up a holiday-themed play for December, "Together Again for the First Time," on the University Theatre stage this Thursday and Friday.
Written by Reed McColm and directed by Stephen Pullen, assistant professor of communication and theatre arts, it tells the story of a step-family getting together on Christmas Eve. It's the first time they've all been in the same house at the same time since the parents' marriage seven years earlier - which wouldn't be a problem if they all liked each other. But they don't.
And matters only get worse with the unexpected arrival of an ex-boyfriend and the outing of well-kept family secrets. This is a comic, touching story about what it means to be a family - even when you don't like each other very much.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Dec. 9-11, and 2 p.m. Dec. 4. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for general admission, and may be ordered by calling 683-5305.
