When the Old Dominion University Monarchs take on the DePaul University Blue Demons in a men's basketball game Saturday, Dec. 17, they'll be shooting for more than just baskets. They will also be helping to raise money for the university library.

The 15th Annual "Baskets for Books" game, co-sponsored by Old Dominion's Athletic Department and the Friends of the Library, will be held at 4 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A percentage of the proceeds from game ticket sales will be donated to the university's Perry Library for the purchase of new books and equipment.

A half-time free throw contest will feature Cal Bowdler, ODU's only first-round NBA draft pick in 1999, against Billy Mann, the Monarch who in 1981 stole an inbound pass to defeat DePaul University. For every successful basket made, ESPN 1310-AM will donate $25 to the Old Dominion Library.

Ticket prices are $20 and include club level seating (oversized, cushioned seats with full back support) and a buffet of hot dogs, chicken fingers, potatoe chips, cookies and beverages. A cash bar will also be available. Tickets must be ordered by Dec. 9.

To purchase tickets, call 623-3555 and ask for Katie.
