OLD DOMINION GRAD IS ONE OF USA'S TOP TEACHERS

Gail R. Englert, a 1989 graduate of Old Dominion University and a fifth-grade teacher at Sewells Point Elementary School, was among 20 K-12 teachers and teaching groups named to USA Today's All-USA Teacher Second Team.

The newspaper honored teachers and instructional teams "as representatives of all outstanding teachers in American schools." Second and third team members receive certificates.

"These teachers were selected for their abilities to advance students' knowledge and make differences in people's lives. We are proud to recognize these outstanding teachers who inspire us all," said USA Today Editor Karen Jurgensen.
