Sentara Healthcare CFO to Deliver Landmark Executive-in-Residence Address Today

Robert Broermann, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sentara Healthcare and an Old Dominion alumnus, will deliver the university's first Landmark Executive-in-Residence address of 2011-12 Tuesday, Sept. 20.

It is scheduled for 12:30-1:20 p.m. in 1005 Constant Hall. There is no charge to attend. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Broermann oversees the finances of one of the nation's top integrated health care organizations and Virginia's largest health care system. He was appointed to the position in 2001, and is responsible for all aspects of the organization's financial management. His staff includes the financial personnel of all 14 Sentara operating divisions, in addition to all centralized finance employees.

Broermann earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1980 and an M.B.A. in 1983, both from ODU. He is a CPA and a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association. In 2006, Virginia Business named him CFO of the Year in the large private company category.

Established in 2001, the Landmark Executive-in-Residence program is funded by an endowment from a group of former Landmark Communications executives in honor of Frank Batten Sr., who was chairman of the executive committee of the Landmark board and the first rector of the ODU Board of Visitors.

The program is dedicated to bringing accomplished business leaders, authors and internationally known speakers to campus to share their history and vision, giving students the opportunity to learn firsthand the strategies and experiences that forge great ethical global leaders.

All presentations are open to university students, faculty and staff, as well as the general public as space permits.
