International Education Week, Nov. 14-18, Offers Variety of Programs
Old Dominion's Office of Intercultural Relations (OIR) is sponsoring a variety of programs during International Education Week, Nov. 14-18. All of the events and activities are open to the campus community.
As a vibrant and fully integrated community of international students, scholars, faculty and staff, ODU is committed to the internationalization of our students' education to ensure their preparation for contribution and leadership in an increasingly interconnected global society. The theme of International Education Week is "Inspiring Students Locally to Succeed Globally."
The week's events opened at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, with a program called "Huh Say What? Understanding Intercultural Communication."
The following programs are scheduled throughout the week:
Monday, Nov. 14
Learn Persian, 3-4 p.m., Intercultural Center (2114 Webb Center), sponsored by the Persian Student International Association and OIR; RSVP at bit.ly/learnpersian
French movie night, "Amelie," 7-9 p.m., Learning Commons, Perry Library, sponsored by the French Club and OIR
Tuesday, Nov. 15
Discover America: Thanksgiving, a program for tasting traditional Thanksgiving food and discovering the origins of this American holiday, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Intercultural Center
Study abroad information session, 12:30-1 p.m., 2008 Dragas Hall
Wednesday, Nov. 16

Boren Awards information session, 2-3 p.m., 2008 Dragas Hall
Salsa Night, meet new international and American friends while learning to salsa dance, 7-10 p.m., North Cafeteria, Webb Center, sponsored by The F.O.R.E.I.G.N.E.R.S. and OIR
Thursday, Nov. 17
International Etiquette Lunch, a five-course catered lunch to learn business etiquette, 12:30-2 p.m., Hampton/Newport News Room, Webb Center, sponsored by Career Management Center and OIR; RSVP by Nov. 15 to bit.ly/oduetiquette
