Concerts, receptions and an academic symposium are just some of the weeklong slate of activities marking the inauguration of Old Dominion University's seventh president, Roseann Runte.

Under the theme "Portal to New Worlds," Runte will be officially inaugurated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, on Kaufman Mall. More than 800 guests are expected to attend the ceremony, which will include an academic procession, remarks by distinguished guests and the conferring of honorary degrees. Former Old Dominion presidents Alfred B. Rollins Jr. and James L. Bugg Jr. will present Runte with the university medal. The inauguration ceremony will be followed by an informal reception.
