COMMUNITY CARE DAY IS SATURDAY

Old Dominion University students, faculty and staff will join together to help a variety of organizations for the university's third annual Community Care Day Saturday, Oct. 15.

Part of the university's 75th anniversary celebration, this year's Community Care Day will focus on outreach, with the ODU community volunteering their time and efforts to community organizations. For more information or to register visit http://www.odu.edu/ao/ccd/.

Volunteers are needed to serve the following organizations:

Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia
8 a.m. - Noon, Agency distribution
9 am. - Noon, Sorting

FORkids Inc.
10 a.m.-Noon, The Haven House -- volunteers will assist with cleaning, baking, landscaping and providing children's activities.
Noon-2 p.m. Norfolk -- volunteers will assist with sorting donations, organizing the shed and landscaping (location is confidential and will be given to participants once they register)

Harbor Pointe Medical & Rehabilitation Center
10 a.m.-Noon, Grounds cleaning and fall planting

The Village Pointe Apartments
Faculty and students in the College of Arts and Letters will provide performances in music and theater. Students will lead attendees through creative activities promoting literacy and self-expression through reading and writing.
10 a.m. - Noon
1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Larchmont Library
9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Shifting books
1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Shifting books

International Black Women's Congress
Noon - 3 p.m., Distribute educational literature

Community Cleanup Project
Help clean up the neighborhoods surrounding our campus.
9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Highland Park
9 a.m. - 11 a.m., Lamberts Point

Norfolk Environmental Commission
Clean up a small wetland.
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Memory Walk Alzheimer's Association in Virginia Beach
Transportation not provided
Registration, 9 a.m.; walk (3-mile and 6-mile options), 10 a.m. NAS Oceana Park
Volunteer to work at the walk or form teams and participate in the walk.

Hope House - Fall Stockley Gardens Arts Festival
Volunteers are needed to help with set-up of the event as well as during the event with artists and the information booth. The event is in Ghent at the Stockley Gardens.

Painting the Paws on Campus
Painting ODU Paws on Campus near the Village. Starts at noon.
