Best-selling business author Tom Peters will give a talk Thursday, Sept. 30, as part of a daylong "Lessons in Leadership" distinguished speakers program. Sponsored by Old Dominion University's Darden College of Education and Center for Global Business and Executive Education, the program will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Downtown Norfolk Waterside Marriott, located at 322 Waterside Drive.

Peters' talk, "How to Survive and Thrive in Uncertain Times," is based on his book, "The Pursuit of WOW!: Every Person's Guide to Topsy-Turvy Times." His program and book offer practical advice on how to succeed in today's constantly changing business world.

Peters will explore topics such as how every organization can capitalize on "opportunity number one;" how to recognize hard work as the only way to lead by example; how to encourage leadership and hard work at the entry level of your organization; and how to handle change and have fun with it.

Peters has written six books since 1982, and has been on The New York Times bestsellers list for years. His other books are: "In Search of Excellence" (1982), "Passion for Excellence" (1985), "Thriving on Chaos" (1987), "Liberation Management" (1992) and "The Circle of Innovation" (1999).

For more information or to register, call 1-800-873-3451. The program, which includes lunch, handouts and a copy of his latest book, "The Circle of Innovation," is $399 per person. Discounts are available for group registration.
