A marital arts fundraising seminar held by Hiroyuki Hamada, associate professor exercise science, physical education and recreation and martial artist in-residence at Old Dominion University, raised $2,000 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The event, held at Granby High School last Saturday, featured training and teaching by 55 professional black-belt instructors. More than 100 participants took part in the seminar and donated to the relief fund.
Hamada presented the check to the executive director of the American Red Cross' Hampton Roads Chapter.
