Macon Brock, president and chief executive officer of Dollar Tree Stores Inc., will speak to Old Dominion University's Economics Club of Hampton Roads at a luncheon Wednesday, Oct.10.

Co-sponsored by Old Dominion's College of Business and Public Administration, the luncheon will begin at noon at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in downtown Norfolk. Due to limited space, reservations are required. The cost of the luncheon is $30 for nonmembers.

Prior to co-founding Dollar Tree in 1986, Brock gained much of his retail experience while serving as president and CEO of K&K Toys Inc.

A graduate of Randolph Macon College, he served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also a special agent for U.S. Naval Intelligence.

Brock serves as director of First Union Bank, Mid-Atlantic region; board chairman of Randolph Macon College; chairman of the Virginia Beach Foundation; trustee of the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges; and past president and CEO of the Virginia Beach Center of Contemporary Arts.
Future Economics Club speakers include Jeffrey Garten, dean of Yale University's School of Management, on Nov. 8, and John Bogle, founder and former chairman of The Vanguard Group, on Dec.12.
