CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF BB&T CORP. TO SPEAK FOR EXECUTIVE-IN-RESIDENCE SERIES TONIGHT
John A. Allison, chairman and chief executive officer of BB&T Corp., will be the guest speaker for Old Dominion University's Landmark Executive-in-Residence Series Thursday, Nov. 9.
Sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration, the series brings accomplished business leaders to campus to share firsthand experience with students. Allison will speak at 7 p.m. in room 1005 of Constant Hall. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Allison began his service with BB&T, a $105 billion financial holding company, in 1971 and has held a variety of responsibilities throughout the bank. He was elected chairman and CEO in 1989.
Allison is a member of the American Bankers Association and the Financial Services Roundtable. He serves on the boards for Wake Forest University Baptist Medical School, Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in management from Duke University.
