HISTORY HONOR SOCIETY WINS NATIONAL AWARD
Old Dominion University's Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society chapter has received the National Best Chapter Award in its division (15,000-23,000 students). It is the fifth time in the past six years that ODU has captured this distinction.
Jim Sweeney, associate professor of history, is the chapter's advisor.
Based at the University of South Florida, Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. It seeks to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
