PIANIST ILAN ROGOFF TO PERFORM THE MUSIC OF PIAZOLLA FOR DIEHN CONCERT SERIES SEPT. 26
Ilan Rogoff will open the season for the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series with a performance of selected works by Astor Piazzolla and Franz List's Sonata in b minor at 8 p.m. Sept.26 on the campus of Old Dominion University.
The performance will be in Chandler Recital Hall of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.
Rogoff, a native Israel and resident of Spain, has performed dozens of concerts with the Israel Philharmonic and has established himself as one of Israel's most well-known artists. He has appeared throughout Europe, America, Latin America, South Africa, Japan and the Far East. Although he is renowned for his interpretations of the Romantic composers, he is also drawn to 20th-century and contemporary music, which he performs regularly. His 2003 CD recording of 12 works by Piazzolla, titled "Urban Nostalgia," which he has transcribed, arranged and edited for piano solo, has received critical acclaim.
The F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series is supported by a grant from the Diehn Fund of The Norfolk Foundation. Tickets for the performance are $15 for general admission; $10 for Old Dominion faculty and staff, senior citizens and non-ODU students; and $7 for ODU students with valid ID.
Tickets may be purchased at the Arts and Letters box office in the atrium of the Diehn Center, located on the corner of 49th Street and Elkhorn Avenue, or by calling 683-5305.
