Laura N. Gasaway, director of the law library and professor of law at the University of North Carolina, will conduct a seminar titled "Copyright, Faculty, Fair Use and the Digital Age" on Thursday, Sept. 16.

Part 1, 9 a.m. to noon, features overview and question-and-answer components. Part 2, 1:30-4 p.m., is an optional session for further discussion.

Many faculty members are still unclear about copyright and fair use for teaching research and scholarship in the analog world. With the advent of the Internet and its use as a teaching tool for both face-to-face teaching and distance education, it is more important than ever that faculty understand the basics of copyright law as they affect teaching and learning.
