FORMER FIELD HOCKEY STARS TAKE MEDALS IN ATHENS
Two Old Dominion University field hockey alumnae picked up medals Thursday in the final two games in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
Lady Monarch Macha van der Vaart won a silver medal when The Netherlands lost to Germany, 2-1, in the Gold Medal game. Van der Vaart was 0-for-3 in shots on goal and was 2-for-12 for the tournament.
Marina DiGiacomo won a bronze medal when her Argentinian team defeated China, 1-0, Thursday. DiGiacomo did not attempt a shot in the game and scored one goal for the tournament.
