UNIVERSITY WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS WITH FRESHMAN CONVOCATION CEREMONY

New students will be recognized during the annual Freshman Convocation ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, on Kaufman Mall in front of Webb University Center.

The guest speaker will be Marlon C. Smith, a "high-tech" motivational speaker who worked for Hewlett-Packard and IBM before leaving the corporate world for a career in public speaking.

The ceremony, in its sixth year, is the highlight of Monarch Revue 1999-2000, the university's weeklong welcome to this year's freshman class.
