MONARCHS PILOT CHOPPER TO ODU'S FRESHMAN WELCOME SATURDAY
A U.S. Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter will be an honored guest Saturday morning as part of Monarch Revue 2005, Old Dominion University's two-week-long welcome to new and returning students.
The two pilots that will be landing the UH-60 Blackhawk on Kaufman Mall are ODU alumni. They are Chief Warrant Officer Ronald "R.J." Smith, a 1989 graduate with a degree in financial management, and Chief Warrant Officer Norman MacIntosh, who graduated in 1974 with a degree in accounting.
The landing is scheduled sometime after 10:15 a.m. and the craft will remain on campus until 1 p.m. Army recruiters will be on hand to distribute recruiting information to students.
MacIntosh and Smith are pilots with the 224th Aviation Assault Battalion scheduled to deploy to Iraq in the coming months.
